Italy
We are thrilled to announce the pilot program titled Waterscapes: A Tale of Two Wetlands with ARTSail Residency Research in Venice, Italy. Waterscapes seeks to explore and contrast two threatened ecosystems, creating a visual dialogue that responds to these environmental issues. This project, developed by ARTSail Residency, is designed as a call to action, using art to deepen understanding of climate change impacts. The Everglades in South Florida and the Lagoon in Venice are critical estuaries that provide essential services such as water purification and habitat for diverse species. Their preservation is vital for maintaining ecological balance, environmental health, and economic stability in their respective regions.
Florida
I expanded my fascination with the biodiversity of the vast Everglades area to encompass the Gulf of Mexico as well. In addition, the Florida scrub located near Archbold Biological Station has emerged as a valuable asset for studying the diverse range of plant and animal life. With a renewed perspective, my goal is to generate greater awareness for conservation efforts through the use of expansive water and landscape photographs, capturing the fragmented macro landscapes. These images are in the process of being complemented by detailed illustrations showcasing the intricate components of the ecosystems that contribute to the overall biological narrative.
